Title: A question for you Army boys?
Post by: Quarlow on January 17, 2010, 05:18:21 PM
My brother is building a motorized bicycle and the model bike he got for it is
the old old harley style bike in military paint scheme.

The question is there is some lettering and some numbers on it and
we were wondering what they mean or are refering too.
These are the numbers 926-10-006

And the letters are HQ-LF.

These all might not have any meaning but just for fun we were wondering.
The HQ-LF would seem to be Head Quarters- something. What do you think?

Ok that makes sense. Thanks NePaS, any ideas on the numbers. Like I said this all comes from a bicycle manufacterer so it could be anything.

I am thinking it is the unit marking of sorts Battalion 926 Company 10 Bike number 006. It has been a few years but that's kind of how I remember vehicle markings.

He is actually starting his own company. This is going to be his showcase bike for showing what they are all about. He has his own website
http://www.blowbyumotorizedbicycles.ca/ Check it out. He has some videos we made of it in action.

I love that bike, though I doubt if I can ride it these days. :)

It's been a while since I've served in the army. I agree with 10.5, from what I recall, that looks more like a vehicle number. The difference from stock numbers and vehicle numbers is that a stock number will pinpoint that is is a bike; the vehicle number (or serial number) will lead you to a specific bike that was issued. For example if you look at an army vehicle such as trucks, tanks etc, they will have similar numbering on their bumpers, instead of issuing a license plate.

That's alright!  I won't be getting one (I'm pretty sure I've depleted my toy money for a while), but I'll keep that in mind and pass the word when I hear "bicycle" mentioned!

Then again, I might have blown through my toy fund AND my vehicle fund (all for toys), so if my bus beaks down...  Hmmm...
