Title: Shipping Summer Sausage
Post by: leftcoast smoker on January 27, 2010, 08:04:41 PM
Have any of you shipped hot smoked summer? if so how was it packed?
I want to ship some to the inlaws and even if I express it it will probably take up to 5 days, they are in a remote area of northern Sask.
any suggestions?

When i ship SS to my sons in Iraq and Afgn i first spray the casing with PS= Potassium Sorbate, let dry then vac seal. It gets to them in store fresh condition.

You know I shipped a Big Easy to _bear_ in the beginning of Dec. regular post which is supposed to take 5 to 6 days and it got to him on the morning of the 3rd day. I could have paid for express post which would have been 2 to 3 days and would have cost 3 times as much. Go figure.

Use Canada post and yuo will be shipping nothing but mold.
Use Fedex, overnight.

Or go visit them with your smoked goodies :D
