Hi,
My wife bought me a smoker (of a cheaper brand) for my birthday last fall! First thing I did was return it and picked up a Bradley Original Smoker when it went on sale a week later. In the fall I smoked a fair bit and started learning the art, but put the smoker away through the deepest part of winter. The weather is warming and it's time to get back to it.
About my unusual moniker: "Pawistik" is a Cree word meaning rapids or whitewater, and is the name of an island where I like to paddle. It's a name I use on various fora that I participate in.
I write a blog about paddling, boatbuilding, and whatever else suits my fancy. You can find the blog at http://pawistik.blogspot.com (http://pawistik.blogspot.com) and you can find the post I wrote about my first fatty at http://pawistik.blogspot.com/2009/12/experience-in-bacon.html (http://pawistik.blogspot.com/2009/12/experience-in-bacon.html).
Cheers,
Bryan

I might as well add a portrait of myself so you'll recognize me in the street.

Welcome up!
Glad to have you with us.
Another smoker from Saskatoon. Howdy. I'll be watching for your smoke rising over your roof top ;).
Welcome to the forum Bryan!
Welcome Bryan!
Lots of good people here.
Welcome. If you every make it down south, bring your fiberglass kit. My sailboat has lots of scars that need fixing.
I did the same thing you did. Wife bought me a Masterbuilt for Chirstmas, it got lost by UPS, so I had a chance to do my own research. The great folks on this board helped convinced me to go with the Bradley. Enjoy your stay.
Hi Bryan and welcome to the forum.
Although I probably won't see your smoke from here I'm not that far away either... Moose Jaw. I built mine into my heated garage to solve the "Saskatchewan winter" issues.
If you haven't already, check out the recipe site. Tons of great stuff there from all the fine folks here on the forum. Just click on the smoker in the bottom of my post for the link.
Great looking Blog you have there!
Mike
Welcome to the forum Bryan. The people here are awesome so if you any questions just ask.
Thanks for the welcome folks and glad to see that there are a couple of Saskatchewanians here.
I'll be sure to browse the recipes, lots of good information here in the forum for sure.
By the way, the OBS is doing OK holding it's own in the cool weather and wind at the moment. I have it tarped off behind the garage and added some bubble foil wrap to give it some help. I have other heat sources on standby in case it can't keep up. I want to build some sort of rain/wind weather shelter for it so will be searching the forum for more on that over the coming weeks.
Cheers,
Bryan
