Title: Broken Bradley
Post by: Phone Guy on April 25, 2005, 05:49:44 PM
While checking on my bacon Saturday I noticed what looked like a drip running down the plastic just above the temp adjuster. It turned out to be the plastic itself broken about midway up to the top to the bottom of the door. I have not dropped or abused it in anyway it sits on the patio table outside. Has anyone else had this happen? I am thinking it was shipped that way. Its a fine break and not very noticable. I placed a call to Bradley on Saturday and am waiting for a response.

PG,

It's a fairly common occurance & really isn't a big deal unless you allow liquid to drain out of the bottom of your smoker. The only risk you run there is that the liquid will short-circut your temp control board.

You did nothing wrong, that is a minor design flaw with the unit and is almost bound to happen eventually. Bradley will replace it no charge, but it will probably happen again.

Correct smoking procedures will ensure that it never becomes an issue.

Ya think next time I check into a hotel & they ask "Smoking or Non?" they would mind?

Mike, throw a little 5-min epoxy over the crack....as good as new!

I would take your advice on the epoxy but Bradley is already shipping one. Besides the smoker is only a couple weeks old. I think if this is a design flaw, it shouldn't be too hard to fix. Maybe some reinforcement on the inside of that area or use a Stainless Plate in that area. Not sure.

PG,

Keep your old door and fix it with the epoxy as psdub suggested--then you'll have a spare part!
