Any suggestions for a ham rub before smoking ?

If it is fresh I like to use just salt, pepper and granulated garlic; sometimes I will mix the spices with brown sugar. But you don't have to stop there, you can add other spices. Cook's Ham Rub (http://cooksham.com/recipe/baked-ham-with-spiced-sugar-rub) is one rub I've been meaning to try. Cured hams I don't use a rub, but finish them in the oven with a glaze. But you can use the same rubs with cured hams, just eliminate the salt.
