Hello all,
I've got a 4 day weekend from work so there's plenty of time to kick up the smoker ;D
I also got a new freezer (new appliances always make a wife happy ;) ) & a 1/2 beef too! So many choices to cook now. Which type of roast is best for shredded beef (you know, beef version of pulled pork)? I got chuck, arm, round, sirloin, heel of round.
Thanks
The chuck should do fine as pulled beef or take your brisket to 209-210* It should just about crumble to pulled beef as you slice it. Experience talking.
Chuck works great for pulled beef, arm works for jerky, round sliced thin makes a great hot beef sammie, sirloin can almost replace prime rib, never cook a heel of round.
Let us know what you go with on the shredded beef.
I would definitely use a chuck roast. I did one this weekend and it was excellent.

A few weeks back I tried to do pulled beef with a beef shoulder and there was not enough fat in the cut and it turned out little dry, but it did pull.
In my post (from the above link) I have a side by side comparison of the two cuts and you can really see the difference. In the post I used the shoulder for roast beef for sammies.
I knew I could count on you guys! I just pulled a chuckie from the freezer. Now, check out my other topic about what I should do with that rascally little 1.5# brisket ;)
