Title: Educated Eaters
Post by: oakville smoker on April 19, 2010, 09:36:47 AM
This weekend was a crazy weekend around the old homestead
Friday night I had to play golf  ( it was nice outside and that makes it mandatory )
I came home and 4 yards of top soil to be spread
Spread about 1.5 yards Friday night
Saturday morning I had to play golf even though it was about 38 F plus a howling wind when we teed it up
Came home and answered the age old question, whats for dinner ?
Plus I had another yard of dirt to shovel
Found a whole chicken in the freezer and hit the THAW button on the microwave
No time to brine or inject or even smoke as I had more dirt to move
Put the chicken in the oven a 300 to cook till it was done
Moved the dirt and came in to pull the chicken out of the oven
It smelled damn good and tasted not bad for oven roasted

Post meal reviews
Well it was good but a little dry....  I got stuck with a breast and did not find it dry at all
More comments:  You did not brine it did you ?  Apparently now punishable under law
You did not inject it, did you ?
And you didnt smoke it     :o

I went WOW, I am busted    :-*

Last comment was "Well I know the difference now, I know the difference between good and great"   LOL    :-X

Dont you just hate an educated consumer ?  I did redeem myself with a rack of smoked baby backs and 2 more yards of dirt shoveling
At least I was not sleeping on the couch last night

If I shoveled that much dirt I would have been sleeping on the dirt pile.

oak smok, you have spoiled that girl.

It does make you feel good to know that the efforts are appreciated.

I would have been spending the night in the ER. YARDS!!!! Geeze, a couple of loads in a wheel barrel and I'm ready for a nap.

A little bit of manual labor never hurt anyone
I had 2 15 year olds helping me on Sunday, I thought they were going to call the child labor police   LOL
You can only do desk work for so long

Now only if the chicken had met expectations !
