Title: Vacation Choices
Post by: Paddlinpaul on May 12, 2010, 07:29:43 PM
My wife and I are trying to decide on a holiday destination. We are considering Myrtle Beach and Charleston SC or the possibility of flying to San Francisco and driving down to LA. It is an 18 hour drive to SC and she does not drive so I would want to split it up over two days. I think Richmond or a little north would be the half way mark for us to stop. She has been to SC twice already and I have only driven through on my way to Florida once about 25 years ago. Neither of us have ever been to California. We have an offer for free place to stay in San Fran and LA so that would help level the cost of flying vs the drive to SC. I am expecting a lot of votes for SC because it is smoking country and I could stock up on CT while passing through NC. Any thoughts about either destination would be appreciated.

When?

We will be in Myrtle Beach in August.

You will have to just about drive past the CT factory on your way.

I already had some shipped here to Ottawa Canada. If I am in the Carolinas I will definitely stock up and save those charges. I have an address in Lake Placid NY I would use next time, much cheaper than going international.

Definitely Charleston.   It's beautiful..
Richmond is neat as well.    Lots of history there.  Colonial Williamsburg isn't that far away either.

Two Christmas' ago, we spent a week in Charleston.  Last Christmas we went to Williamsburg.

Very affordable lodging, and the FOOD.  Well, WOW!

I bought a 4 pack of of the 18oz Original for $3.95 per bottle. With shipping, exchange, etc the charge to my Visa was $44.45 cdn
The most expensive sauce I ever bought but I had to try it. If we end up down the east coast I'll definitely grab some more.
