Title: Starting them young!
Post by: FLBentRider on May 30, 2010, 04:57:14 PM
So I started making up a batch of Mooink balls while the kids, 5 and 7, are playing WII.

"Whatcha doin'? (yes sounding like Isabella on Phineas and Ferb)

Making Moooink balls.

"Can we help?"

Uh. Sure.

Well the three of us just ripped through 5lbs of meatballs and 3lbs of bacon, all the while them telling me how much they loved Moooink balls.

They aren't the best looking batch of moooinks, but they were made with love and enthusiasm.

Sorry no pic, no one else home, greasy fingers aren't going anywhere near the new camera!

Make sure they get to go out and check the smoker with Dad. They always taste better with some little people love added in.

Moooinks are in, kids loaded the bisquettes and get to push the advance button, which stuck.

Now that I can see what they look like I can also say they look good. I've never heard of Mooink balls and didn't know what they were. Is just meatballs and bacon?

... Is just meatballs and bacon?

The quick answer is YES.  Make the meatballs anyway you like them.  Maybe beef or pork (oinkoink balls) or a mix of ground meats.  Season any way you like 'em.  The bacon is the key.

FLBR will likely post up his meatball mix recipe.

LOL. I mean Receipt. I bought them pre-made, frozen in a 5lb bag. Sams club. The 3lb of bacon goes with it well. Add a little of your favorite rub... some smoke...

OK I've done BBQ sauce and grape jelly on meatballs before and to add bacon and then in the smoker.  Oh yea! Thanks

Larry does bestow Masters of Moinkballogy over at the Brethern!

Be sure to glaze them with a raspberry (or other) glaze with some alcohol in it - the mo de better!
