Title: Memorial Day and Wife's Birthday Cookout
Post by: ArnieM on May 30, 2010, 07:08:25 PM
First up, sorry for no food pics.  I was kinda busy watching the ET-73 while having a few bev, bev, beverages.

Had #1 daughter & hubby, # 2 daughter & significant other and Debbie's friend Julie over.

I was going to do brisket but ended up with an 11 pound tenderloin.  Probably about 9 pounds after trimming it and had to cut it in half.  It went in to the OBS for two hours of Oak, cook to 125, FTC.

The girls made up some HUGE shrimp, marinated and then wrapped them in prosciutto, put 'em on skewers on the grill along with some sweet Italian peppers I had.

German warm potato salad made with the last of my smoked bacon, corn on the cob and green salad.

The tenderloin went into a 400 degree oven to finish it off, and then some fresh horseradish sauce on the side.  Everything came out good.

Just a few fun pics -

Debbie (left) and friend Julie.  Julie likes to work the sausage stuffer.

Deb and her cake.  She would not allow me to mention her age.

# 2 daughter.  The skinny little thing used to model in DC.

I hope y'all had a good weekend!

Looks good Arnie.  Glad you kept Deb's age a secret.  ;D   We know how the ladies can be with that sort of thing.

Food sounds seriously good.

I figured I owed y'all some pics just to show I actually did something.   :D  Sorry, mostly leftovers.

Did some ABTs and CATs (like that term) this afternoon.

The stuffing was cilantro, deli sliced ham and pineapple chunks, in the food processor.  Mixed that into cream cheese and shredded sharp cheddar.

Had plenty of stuffing and a couple of Italian frying peppers around.  That's where the CATs came from.

Ready to go in.

One hour of hickory and then cook until done.

Damn, those Jals were hot!

Here's dinner.  Gently warmed the tenderloin with horseradish cream sauce (thanks to BuyLowSellHigh for the recipe), warm German potato salad, a CAT and watermelon salad.  The latter is just cubed watermelon with a good quality Balsamic vinegar on it.

I'd also like to thank you all for your birthday wishes.

Thank you all for your wishes.  Actually, you're not late.  Sunday's get together was a joint Memorial Day and birthday celebration with family and friends.

Today, June 1st is Debbie's real birthday day.  Up early.  Boy, am I tuckered out.

Breakfast - Bacon, fried egg and an English muffin.

Lunch - Chopped up some of the left over tenderloin, added some of Iceman's Sop'n Sauce, on a bun with cheese and lettuce.

Dinner - Went to the butcher and got a couple of USDA Prime boneless ribeyes.  They got about 40 minutes of Oak - fitting it in around the T'Storms.  Baked potatoes on the grill, talk about crispy.  Then the steaks went on the grill.  Zucchini with red onion, garlic, OO, ancho chili powder and white wine.

Then, of course, there was the cleanup.  May not hit the chat group tonight.  Woof.
