Skeeters & hurricanes.  I lived and worked out of Pensacola decades ago, did an emergency run to Ft Meyers one night, when I stepped outside I nearly passed out from the rapid blood loss to the aerial vermin that attacked me.

Fort Myers--- Pensacola--- beautiful country.  The shrimp, oysters and blue crab are in abundance there.  Don't know how much this oil spill will affect this area.  The prevailing Gulf Stream is favorable to offshore, but there are reports now that those sugar white beaches are getting some oil spots.  I enjoyed the Johnny Cash song, my kind of music.

We are hoping the oil moves on past our sugar beaches.   I know the oyster folks and fisherman anre going like mad trying to beat the oil.

It's already on Santa Rosa Island.  As best I can tell they are capturing even 50 % of the ongoing spew.

Nepa, if you end up in Ft Meyers it's a great place. Not too much of a tourist place since the economy tanked. I get there a couple times a year to see my Mom in Bonita Springs. I always wanted to buy a place on the Imperial River when it was so cheap in the early 90's. The 2 places I am considering for relocating are Ft Meyers and Aberdeen NC. Kinda funny you are talking about both locals more or less! I think Aberdeen is about 60 miles from  Fayetteville.

We are looking at SC or Savannah GA for retirement. My wife will have 30 years in the FAA soon and she has been looking for a southern transfer to finish. Dont think it will be the Fayetteville/Ft Bragg cuz both the sons could be based at other bases at any time

The Ft Myers just came open. She really not interested in the opening.
