Title: Deer Camp Break In
Post by: classicrockgriller on June 17, 2010, 08:43:08 PM
Got a call today and 18 trailers got Broke into at the Deer Camp.

The caller told me mine was one of them.

They knocked the lock off my trailer and as far as I know,

all they stole out of mine was some Whiskey!

My buddy went down to see the damage. His was one of the few that didn't get hit.

Left a 22" flat screen, ammo, tools, 2 buddy heaters, microwave, deer feeders, etc.

Probably kids.

Gonna try to go down Sunday and put new locks on.

Kinda funny in that We have a lot of Local members.

Someone is there Friday afternoon thru Sunday afternoon probably every weekend.

Then we have a Member that is running Hog traps and he goes Tuesday/ Thursday.

We get broke in on a Wensday.

It is somebody that has been to our Deer Camp ... or is just a lucky person.

I hope God does get'em. They (Police) got several good finger prints.

We are posted and in the State of Texas, that is the Law.

We will prosecute. No matter who did it.

I don't have to do anything ....

the Pres of our camp pressed charges against his cousin two years ago for trespassing.

Was his third strike ... He's still thinking about that! ;D

We have several game cams watching over our cabin up on our hunting land.  One of them is way up in a tree that is hard to get at and is in a "tamper-proof" box.  The other is more accessible but very hard to find unless you know where to look.  One of them gets a good shot of any vehicles coming/going.

Of course I'd rather have the game cams out in the woods scouting for deer but theft has been an issue where we are at.

He also told me the officers than made the report told him 5 clubs in Tyler county got hit within the last week and a half.

A friends cabin up north kept getting broken into. So he built a cattle guard out of PVC pipe and put it about 50 yards in on his driveway. It was about 10' wide and about 5' deep. He caught the guys who were breaking in cause the next time he showed up there truck was still in the hole along with a bunch of stuff they had stolen from another cabin that day. He called the cops who showed up at there house and I believe they were charged with a string of break-ins in the area. They may not have done them all but guilty by association is the next best thing. You just want to be sure all your friends know about it. He had a sign that said before you proceed past this point please call this number which a thief would never read or phone. He did accidently get a group of Jehovahs Witnesses once which was unfortunate, but if they had read the sign. ;D

This is what I have been told.

It is someone that knows our camp.

We have one main service road.

We have a road that leaves our camp that goes to the river bottom.

Cameras on both those.

No abnormal pics, just members. ???

They think they came on ATV's up the high line to camp.  No Cameras.

Going tomorrow or wensday (someone is staying there the next couple of nites)

Update!

I had stated that we were one of five camps broken into.

I found out this info at the PIG FEAST on the 4th.

The big, high $$$$ camp, Camden Hunting Club got hit really hard.

The people that did the break-in brought trailers and other things to haul off

Scout jeeps, ATV's, tractor or tractors. Was told it was over $80,000 worth of stuff

plus the damage they did.

Someone BIG must belong to the Camden Club because the Texas Rangers (yes they are still in business)

are down in Woodville trying to find out Who-did-it.

Ranger Cordell Walker: I think our next place to search is where military and wannabe military types hang out.
Ranger Jimmy Trivette: Does that mean the Hunt Club?
Ranger Cordell Walker: Yep!
Ranger Jimmy Trivette: Nobody goes into the Hunt Club without a S.W.A.T. escort.
Ranger Cordell Walker: We do!

I believe it's "Kill 'em all now and sort 'em out later."  But we can't do that as civilians.

I've worked in security for a few years.  The goal is to prevent the break in, not to catch 'em once broken into.  A very obvious security system can do that.  It can be a combination of $2.95 plastic cameras that don't do anything but are obvious.  Little boxes, battery operated with flashing red LEDs.  Outside lights, maybe with motion detectors and hooked to an audible alarm.   Whatever you can think of.  The goal is to deter.

I'm really sorry to hear about the break ins.  I hope they can be stopped.
