Title: Cubed Steak
Post by: SnellySmokesEm on July 09, 2010, 08:22:39 AM
I bought some cubed steak from the store and now I am at a loss as to how to prepare it.  I know the traditional way of breading and saute, but I was wondering if there was another way.  I was thinking taco's....  Any suggestions?

There's a an Alton Brown swiss steak in the dutch oven kinda thing that we dig. I'll see if I can dig up the recipe.

Alton Brown is the man.  Thanks for the tip.  I guess I will abandon my cubed steak taco idea and make chicken fried steak.  Thanks again guys!

Try a Italian steak/ potato casserole.

It's easy and damn good.   Bread the steak in Italian bread crumbs and layer them in a 9x12 dish.
Steak,,, potato's,, steak,,, potato's with butter in between the two! Bake at 350 for an hour or so. It's killer!

Egg wash for breading the steaks, and pat butter on top of the spuds. Dad always used baking potato's cut them into thick chips (1/8 thick)

TMB, that sounds great!  I made chicken fried steak with gravy over the weekend and it was excellent.  Sunday morning I reheated the leftover and had steak and eggs.  This recipe sounds like another winner.  I will definitely try it.  Thanks.
