Title: Our Family of 'Coons
Post by: ArnieM on July 14, 2010, 10:36:47 AM
Pics taken through the kitchen window so the quality may be a bit off.

The kids are chowin' down.

Mom is getting a drink.

They're fun to watch.

Apparently we have a family living around here as well. Momma went to work this morning at 3:30 am and heard some rustling by the tree and went over and looked there was two tiny little masked bandits looking back out at her.

They are cute, but if they can get into your kitchen, they can sure make a mess real fast.

We've got them around here too but never see them.    I guess I go to bed too early ;).   Only ones I see are the flattened ones on the highway.

I have a familly of them in the tree behind my backyard
A bit of a pain as they get into everything
We also have coyotes ( packs of them ) bunnies and deer that drop over for a beer every once in a while
The coyotes have been a problem for the cats and dogs in the neighbourhood around here
They wind up gutted in someone's driveway.  not pretty

I am thinking I will be a huntin 'coons one night in the near future

I've got a cure for coyotes and 'coons but it's a little noisy ;).

I'm thinking red wine/garlic marinade for 24 hours then hickory and apple at low temps for about 12 hours.  Big talk, we have squirrels, porcupines, deer and the occasional bear that tour through at will.  We also enjoy watching but have been known to harvest the occasional morsel of wild protein.

Them coons can get mean also. I'd keep the kids away from them. I turkey hunt and load my own shells with tungsten steel (TSS # 7) they will take out a yote at 60 yrds.

I'll 2nd THAT...

Be careful Arnie..
Don't want them getting too "comfortable" around your digs.
Their CLAWS are second only to GRIZZLIES.
Good thing they're too stupid to realize they can KILL US...

If they THINK they're in a corner..
I'm just sayin'...

That's nothing, my old girlfriends mom had an albino skunk as a pet (de scented of coarse). Had it for years - one day she picked it up to give it a kiss and the thing bit her nose off and scratched up her face.
