Title: Neighbor BBQ
Post by: OldHickory on July 21, 2010, 04:00:45 PM
My neighbor down the road decided to have a BBQ and I was requested to bring my pulled pork.  I was lucky and had a smoked butt in the freezer, so after a morning thaw it was into the oven at 240* for a re-heat and then remove bone and any fat, then pull apart.

A little taste said it was soft and smokey
Now off to the BBQ.

Food on the crank up and down pit for now includes chicken, top block, sweet bread, venison sausage, wild pig sausage, spiced sausage, the pulled pork on the side to keep warm.

The ladies brought cakes and there was fresh apricots off the tree cobbler.  There was bacon wrapped abalone ka-bob and fresh halibut tacos.  Good food and a good time.

That container has pre mixed spices to sprinkle on the chicken and top block while cooking if desired.

All looks so good, especially the butt you cooked (not commenting on "your butt"   ;D)!  Honestly, your pulled pork looks a whole lot better than anything I see on that big crank cooker, but I may be biased.

Note to self: Having an extra smoked butt in the freezer is a good thing just incase we have a last minute neighborhood party! And maybe look for something other then a ball cap or bandana to cover my head? But really...Thanks for the PICS it looks like it was a fun get-to-gather!  ;D

Good food and good friends get together.  Isn't that what it is all about?  It happened with NePas smokeout and I know it will happen with the TSO.  I wish I could be there.

Not mandatory, but pretty much standard in this rural area. Mostly ranches with cattle and farming, and get togethers are come as you are.
