Well I'm really excited to say I got a BS for my boyfriend and I can't wait to use it. 2 people I know liked it so much they want out go and get one as well. The only thing that struck me as kind of odd is when I opened the box (didn't open the internal packaging) a couple of opaque plastic pieces had landed on the floor(broken). I couldn't see, without undoing the packaging where it came from and I don't know on the unit itself where anything would be made of plastic - Does anyone know where plastic may originate from on the unit? I'm not quite sure but these pieces may not have anything to do with the unit itself. I'm also looking for some great recipes that anyone may have? Shannon

Welcome Shannon!
I suspect that Chez Bubba can answer the "plastic things" question....I know I can't, since I bought mine back when they were chiseled out of rocks[:D]
You'll also get some great advice from forum members as far as what to cook....here's a great place to start looking for ideas for your "first smoke".... http://susan.rminor.com/smokers/WhoHowWhy/firsttime.htm
Let us know how you did!
35 years of extinguishing smoking stuff and now I'm wondering WHY!

Greetings Shannon!
If the color is black then they could have come from the smoker. Don't worrry through--Bradley really stands behind their units. It is one of the few things I've seen in my lifetime that truely has a bumber to bumber warranty.
If it is off of your unit give them a call: 1-800-665-4188! Generally they ship replacement parts 2-day air!

The corner guards and bottom faceplate are made of black plastic. If you have no idea where it came from, maybe they have substituted the protective shims for the door from foam to a hard plastic?

Ya think next time I check into a hotel & they ask "Smoking or Non?" they would mind?
Welcome to the Forum, Shannon! Please share your experiences with us, and when you find out what those plastic pieces are, definitely let us know!

So I found out what the plastic pieces came from......actually it was glass and it was the long cover to the element in the back of the unit. The metal covering was also bent slightly so maybe someone had dropped it during shipping somehow. My boyfriend still liked it anyway and can hardly wait to use it as soon as we get the new pieces. Thanks for the help and replys to everyone! P.S. He's a great cook/chef so once we get going with this thing I'm sure we'll have a recipe or two to submit!

Shannon,
Good God,
You got a unit with a glass bulb? They discontinued those a year and a half ago! Apparently Bradley is taking care of you as promised but geeze, I hafta question where you bought it from.

The glass is covering the long coiled element in the back of the unit. It is opaque sort of colour and covers the long element coil in the back attached to the back wall of the unit. Sorry I probably didn't explain it well, it doesn't have a glass bulb. I bought it at an Italian sporting goods store in Vancouver. So I'm going to take the element and this covering back and get it replaced with a new one.
