Title: pulled pork for relatives
Post by: bears fan on August 03, 2010, 05:47:15 PM
So this last weekend the family and I went out to visit relatives out of state and my niece really wanted some pulled pork, so I surprised her and smoked a 6 pound butt and took it with us.  It turned out great and was one of the best I've made yet.  We got there and I instructed them we were going to just put it in a crock pot with some apple juice, BUT NO BBQ SAUCE in the crockpot.  So, we get there and and she has some store-bought pulled pork package mixed up in the crock pot for me to put the naked pulled pork into  :o.  I was polite and put it into this mix she had in the crockpot.  I was a little upset to say the least >:(.  It was o.k., but I would've rather sauced mine after I had it on the bun.  Oh well, they enjoyed it and that is all that matters, but it was hard to put that nice smoked butt I made in that store bought pulled pork packet mixture.  Defeated the who point of smoking it.

Cut them some slack. They just don't know any better. Most people don't.

Good thing they live out of state.   ;)

Yeah, I chalked it up to the fact they never had good smoked pulled pork before.

It takes a while to train people...   But they will come around once they taste the 'real deal'.   ;)

I had to go with my wife to picnic one time (business function)...  She told me they having BBQ, so I was really looking forward to it.  I get to the food line, look up and down, don't see any BBQ.  We get out of earshot and I ask her, "I thought there was going to be BBQ?"...
She says, "Shhhh...  it was the stuff that looked like tomato soup..."
"You must be kidding?"
"Shhhh!!!"

bears fan - You're a far kinder man than I (which may be why so many of my family don't speak to me).
