Fried Food Showcase: From the Wonderful to the Weird
Nothing compares to the irresistible crunch of an expertly fried dish. But the deep fryer isn't just for chicken and french fries. Restaurant chefs, street vendors, and state fair cooks around the globe are experimenting with frying often surprising ingredients. The results? Sometimes weird, sometimes unexpected, but usually delicious. Check out what's fresh from the fryer.

I'm kind of surprised deep fried pickles didn't make it.  Maybe not weird enough.

I saw on an episode of "The Best Thing I Ever Ate - Deep Fried"  on the Food Network and everything there looked good.

A deep fried hotdog (not a pogo) at a place called Rawley's Drive IN in Fairfield, CT

Mofongo at a place called Benny's Seafood in South Miami, FL

Fried Brussel Sprouts at a place called Lolita in Cleveland, OH

Tempura Bacon at a place called The Red Cat in New York.

There were a few more such as best doughnut, french fries, pork rinds, and shrimp heads as well.

If I am ever in NYC, I'm gonna try that bacon...that's for sure.
