Title: Racks with smaller openings for smoker
Post by: TCP on August 16, 2010, 08:29:53 AM
Does anyone know where I can get racks for my Bradley that have smaller openings than the standard racks?
Or something I put on the standard racks to make the openings smaller?

I would go with these :

http://www.yardandpool.com/High-Temperature-Jerky-Drying-Screen-p/hitempjrky.htm

They are non stick. nothing goes in my Bradley without one of these under it.

If you are looking to do small nuts, cheesecloth also works well and is cheap and disposable.

I read they would hold up to the heat and Bradley pulled them!

There used to be issues with the non-stick falling off after a few uses/washes, I know mine did.

There are jerky racks - non-stick coated racks

AND

jerky SCREENS - plastic matts similar to frogmats but do not tolerate high heat well at all. I melted mine accidentally

I bet melted forgmats added some interesting flavor to the meat  ;D :'(
Has Bradley improved the Jerky racks they sell or is there still and issue with the non-stick?

I have the non-stick jerky racks from Bradley and have had no problems with the coating coming off.  However, stuff still sticks and they are a bit of a pain to clean.  Six months ago or so, i got a set of frogmats from Yard and Pool and they work great.  If i could do it again, i would use the frogmats on the basic racks.

I have both, the non-stick seemed top hold up pretty well for me but I love the frog mats and highly recommend them.
