Hello all! Been away from the forum and smoking for a while. Was a very busy spring and summer but now I'm ready to fire up the Bradley again (it's football season you know). I am going to try my first batch of spare ribs. I have done baby backs many times with great success and was wondering if I need to do anything different? Do I need to do any trimming? These ribs seem to be way big compared to a rack of baby backs. Any help would be appreciated, and now that fall is here I will be trying to contribute on a more regular basis.
Welcom back Big Red!

Hope this helps!
Thanks for the info. guys. I am cleaning out my Bradley today and smoking some ribs tomorrow.
What does it mean to boat the meat? I understand a splash with a juice, but what is boating.
Boating is wrapping in foil or in a foil pan with a foil cover.
Usually some kind of liquid goes in with. Technically this is a braise.
Two racks on the smoker. Not sure I trimmed them right but what the heck, they should eat the same no matter what right? Going with 3-2-1 with a 2 to 1 hickory and oak mix at 220 on the DBS. Will then tent and braise 2 hours in the oven with an apple juice JD mixture. then uncover and cook another hour followed by mop with BBQ sauce and onto the grill to finish. I will try and get some pictures taken, but my Huskers come on at 2:30 and the cocktails will have to begin so I cannot guarantee anything (other than a Husker win!)
