well I'm new to this for the only smoking I've done was in a old brinkman grill and was never the best.
was just wondering what was some of the thing you all like to smoke and the wood types they are good in?
So far I've done some salmon in alder yesterday and doing some deer jerky today in hickory.

Get yourself a chicken or a pork butt.

Here is a wood guide, but there are no rules.

Hi camoghost and welcome to the forum.  As stated, there are no rules but certain pairings probably work better.  Keep notes of what you did and how you liked it.  Maybe try something different next time.
