Title: Newbie Smoker
Post by: northernsandcarver on September 23, 2010, 03:13:57 PM
Hi all, my name is Kelly and I'm from Edmonton, Alberta.

My husband and I have been talking about getting a smoker for the last few years and we're finally going to bite the bullet.  I would like to know what you all prefer, 4 rack or 6 rack.  Hubby hunts and I'd like to try making sausage and jerky.  Also want to try beef, pork, turkey (if it can be done).

Anyway, would appreciate any input you may have.

Thanks,

Kelly

Welcome. I have a 4 rack digital. Sometimes I wish I would have the 6 rack but for most of my smokes it does just fine.

Welcome Kelly, nice to have you on board. Enjoy your smoker.
You can smoke/cook just about anything in the Bradley, just go
here for lots of great recipes.

Kelly, I have a 4 and a 6 and they share my love equal.

If you are going to make sausage and hang it, it is a little easier in the 6 rack.

Welcome to the Forum.

Hi Kelly and welcome.  I'd probably go for the 6 rack for hanging sausage - more vertical room.  As far as what you can smoke, anything you can catch or pick (or buy at a supermarket). :D

Thanks for the welcome everyone, I went to Wholesale Sports the day it went on sale and they were already sold out.  I waited patiently hoping more stock would come in before the sale was over and sure enough they came yesterday, yeah!  Best price I've seen so far.

Looking forward to trying it out!

Alright now the fun begins.
I have also found that Wholesale has some of the best
prices on bisquettes, just picked up a few 120 packs form our
local store here in Langley.
