Title: RIB SMOKE?
Post by: BIG T on July 01, 2005, 07:19:07 PM
I have already done some ribs w/ hickory smoke & they were awesome. Has anyone tried pecan. I just recived some pecan that I ordered from Chez Bubba (by the way thanks for the great service & speedy delivery Kirk) & would like to try it. Has anyone tried a mix of hickory & pecan togther & if so what ratio of each smoke should I use. Since I am still a newbie to this I may just try half of my ribs w/ hickory the the other 1/2 the pecan. Thanks in advance "T"[:D]

Pecan is wonderful.  Not quite as strong as Hickory, and a bit sweeter.  You really can't go wrong with either of these on ribs, or any combo of the two.  I would do a batch w/ all Pecan just so you can see the diff between the two.  Then mix and match as you please from there on out.

Thanks Paul!

I do beleive that will be the best route to go. That way I can decide which is the best & then next time do a combo smoke..Have a great 4th[8D]!

2 pecan to 1 apple is really good on ribs or for a little sweeter 2 apple to 1 pecan works quite nicely.
