Title: This Really Sucks!
Post by: Jim O on October 15, 2010, 01:32:30 PM

Hi all

Haven't been  posting for a while.Been in the hospital for a while (21 days)Bowel operation.

Been home for a while now just recuperation and getting stronger. Dr says not to lift anything heavier than 5 LBS,which  makes somethings impossible ie : going for a pee and smokin' !

Just reading the forum makes me miss the smokin' bit even harder, especially when I see pix of all the good things that are being turned out.

Oh well,I guess I'll just bide my time till the Doc gives me the all clear and I can "get 'er done " !

Jim,
Hope you're doing well and get back to smokin' soon.  Take care of yourself first though.

Hi Jim, just read your post.  I have been there and done that 4 years ago also I have had 2 insisanal hernies and gallbladder removed so I know where your coming from.
PLEASE do not stress yourself out over this or try to lift to much, I'm paying for lifting to much to early and believe me you don't want to go there! I still have pain in my left side because I didn't listen to my doctor and I work on cars so you can imagine the pain I'm in half the time.

If you want to chat about this email me at        [email protected]      I know how you feel and it ain't fun but remember at least your on this side of the dirt!   ;)

Peace,

Tommy

I've only been doing this for a couple weeks and I can't imagine being away from it long. Maybe just sneak one puck in and stand in front of the open door ;D

And heed the warnings! Recovery time is always longer than it seems to need to be.

Hope the recovery goes well for ya Jim O. Just cool your jets a bit and let things go at a steady pace. Good to see you post again.  :)

I'm hoping your recovery is both speedy and 100+%.  Don't try to be a hero and push the Doc's schedule, or you may just end up redoing some of the surgery (don't ask me how I know, just trust that I do).

Jim O,

Yea, what everybody else is saying...the first thing to do is recover! And that means to listen to your DR as hard as it seems to suck. Good luck and best wishes to a speedy recovery! And hey...your don't have to lift anything to type on your keyboard and there are lots of us willing to lend you and ear and reply!

Best wishes on your recovery Jim.  Listen to the doc.

Pucs aren't heavy but then there's butt.  Maybe some ribs or chicken?

I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Without over extending yourself, there are many food that are under 5 pounds per tray that can be smoke. If there are no restrictions on diet, you can smoke/roast chicken (either whole or parts); small pork loin roasts or beef roasts; meatloaf; fatties, salmon/fish etc.
