Title: My new market
Post by: iceman on October 16, 2010, 01:50:59 PM
Thought you folks would get a kick out of theses Italian markets. Man I would die to have these up in Alaska. Ann had to drag me by the ear out of these.  :D

Iceman - Spent 3 months this summer in Wasilla.  I too would have died to have one of those markets up there.  Heck, I would just settle for one of those butcher shops here in Central California.  Man, you could spend all day in that meat market.  Talk about a candy store!!!  Hope you enjoy your Italian trip as much as I enjoyed my trip to Alaska.

I know you was kicking and screaming as she pulled you out of there. Did you learn any secrets while you was standing there drooling all over yourself?

Superb!  My kind of market (and wife's too since she is from Europe).  Closest thing I have seen to that in the States is the Italian Market district in Philly.

I did some calc's and the prices aren't that bad ... converting the buck at $1.40/ Euro, those gorgeous looking whole chix (that actually look like a chicken should look) came out to $2.41/lb.

Enjoy it while you can !

It sure was a fun trip! We went to Africa, Algeria, France, Italy, and Greece. Next trip Ann said we could skip Africa and spend a week in Italy so I can buy things at the markets and play around cooking and grilling. I'm already making a shopping list.  ;D

I love the Italian Market District in Philly!  It's been a few years, but that is a trip and a half.  Or go into the food level at Harrod's  -  That'll make your eyes and tongue pop out!

Those pictures make me remember the markets and butcher shops in Germany. Quality is amazing and everything is fresh. They shop for food every other day.  Glad I am going back in May June for another visit.
