Title: Great Ribs in Vegas
Post by: StickyDan on October 17, 2010, 11:18:42 AM
Just got back from Vegas.  I was there for a convention.  We went to this place called Ellis Island for Ribs. According to one of my cab drivers, this is the best place in town for BBQ.   Reg price is about 16 bucks but you get 3 bucks off with a free players card.  So for about 13 bucks I got a full rack of ribs, bread, slaw and beens plus it was about 3 bucks for a beer.  These where honestly some of the best ribs I've ever had from a restaurant.  Perfectly cooked and tender with lots of flavor and the price was right.  They where cooked on this giant pellet smoker using using Traeger mesquite pellets.  I tried chatting up the pit master a little but he had a pretty thick accent and was pretty busy so I didn't get much out of him.
Going to Vegas?  You gotta give this place a try.

I just got back from Vegas too but no BBQ for me
Was going to try Lawry's but ended up at DelFrescos or however you spell it
Had a dry aged 14 ounce fillet.
i have to admit it was the best piece of meat I have ever eaten in my life
Ordered it cold centre, it came with just a sear on both sides, cut it with a butter knife
I was looking forward to dipping some fresh bread in the juice left on my plate but there was none
Not cheap but damn it was good

I was supposed to be at a dinner at the Palms at Ceasars and was running late another night
I was standing outside the place and happened to spin around and see Margaritaville on the other side of the street
Had to go, was no stopping me
A couple of Landshark lagers and some ribs
Made the 6 PM alarm of Margaritaville with the pretty girl sliding down the waterslide from the ceiling of the bar
Was a blast

Good to be home though

Kummock,

Maybe we can meet up at the SHOT Show.

I'm aiming to be in town for it again this year.

Would look forward to meeting you there Lumpy...except two things
1. I exhibit at the Antique Arms show  http://antiquearmsshow.com/  which ends a few days prior to SHOT show
2. Now it looks like it'll be June instead of January for me.....found that out since my previous reply
Are you planning to be there in June?

Dan, I think you had an unscrupulous cab driver take advantage of you because Ellis island is up by New York. I hope you didn't lose a lot of money at them fake casinos. ;D
