Title: Using the DBS with an Auber PID
Post by: rcger on October 23, 2010, 02:49:11 PM
When you're using the PID with a DBS, do you press the power button for the tower or does the PID override that function?  I know you want to turn the smoker on.  Thanks in advance.

When you run a DBS with an Auber, plug the cabinet into the Auber directly, not the SG.  Then program the Auber for your cooking cycles. Separately, plug the SG into a standard outlet and run that manually. Remember that for the smoke generator to be on you must have time showing on the Oven side; it doesn't matter what Oven temp you set because it won't be doing anything other than keeping the SG powered. If the Oven time goes to zero, the SG will turn itself off, which isn't a problem unless you wanted smoke or wanted to use the heat from the SG.

edit:  Should have included this -- there was a good discussion recently on using the Auber PID with Bradley smokers here (http://forum.bradleysmoker.com/index.php?topic=18346.0).  The last post clarified and corrected a misconception I had on controlling the SG with the Auber dual probe.
