I have a turkey situation
Brother wants me to smoke a turkey for him to take to his daughter on thanksgiving and I was wondering the best way to do it
1. Cold smoke and let him finish in the oven when he gets there (he really don't like this option)
1A. How long can a cold smoked turkey be refrigerated before it needs to be cooked?
2. Smoke until done, let cool, refrigerate, warm up on T Day
2A. How long can this be refrigerated ?
3. Smoke until done FTC until ready to eat (really not an option )
Or if anyone has a better way of doing please tell

I'd go with 2.
The leftover police say three days, I'd say no more than a week.
Don't even think about option 1........too much can go wrong with the meat (bacteria, etc.)
Go for door number 2 and enjoy!
Ditto on #2.
Brine the bird if it isn't already...
Need more info:
How much do you like your brother and niece?
Will you be eating any of the turkey?
;D ;D
Brother is OK, niece NOT :o
No I will not be eating any turkey but my smoking reputation is on the line here ;)

Like STC said, if you brine the bird first, re-warming it will not dry it out.
Can't wait for Turkey Day!
I'm gonna Gobble me some Turkey and Gravy.
The Gent's have you covered. Just one word of caution on the brine -- check the label on your bird first, if it says "pre-basted", "self basting" or in the fine print says anything like "contains X% of a solution of..." mentioning broth or salt or some other kind of solution, then pass on the brining.
And might I suggest if you are going to reheat the whole bird, put it in one of those oven bags from the grocery store. It will help to retain the moisture and it should help to brown it up a bit.
Thanks All
I can see they are going to have an excellent bird for T DAY
