Title: It was time to make my first fattie
Post by: Chili Head on December 08, 2010, 03:38:05 PM
I finally got around to making my first fattie. I used the "Not your momas meatloaf recipe" and did a bacon weave on it,first time for that too  ;D
I'm rolling an hour of maple smoke on it and cooking to an IT of 160° to kill the nasties. My mouth is watering thinking about this..I love meatloaf!!  :D

That one on the left looks awesome, but there's something wrong with the bacon weave on the right one.

The loaves look great. A spicy lazy Susan is great looking too. Can't wait to see the grand finale.

Well it was good  ;D  A tad too much cumin and worcestershire but I'll still rate it a solid 8  :D

There's something about smoked meatloaf that satisfies my primal urging!  Or at least I think it does!  Good looking!  I've found that if you want that bacon feeling with meatloaf, I throw a handful or two of crumbled bacon in the meatloaf.  Never added a weave, but why not!!  Why, I think we've just invented a Meatloaf Explosion!

Boy, those look nice, but all that bacon will just get me in trouble! Is that galvanized hardware clothed wrapped around the other? It's time to try the meatloaf thing :)

Looks like a frog mat to me.

Looks good and a good idea to use a frog mat to hold it together!

Nice fatties!

Great use of the frog mats.

I got the frog mats to keep my jerky from sticking but they are so useful for other things I can't imagine not having them now. I'll have to try the crumbled up bacon next time! That sounds even better than the weave.

I just put the meatloaf on the frogmat, no wrap - it held up fine.

I do the same, well, without the frogmat, and the loaf holds its shape.
