Title: Are collegen casings edible?
Post by: GusRobin on December 27, 2010, 07:33:45 AM
Making pepperoni using a LEM kit. Are the coolegen casings that coe with the kits edible or should they be peeled off prior to eating? Have always used hog casisngs and this is my first attempt with collegen.

Yes they are. Dont soak em.

When done if the ends have some flap you might be able to peel them if you like.

Yep what nepas said, there edible, there a little tough at first but after a day or two in the fridge there just like store baught. I prefer to peel them when I can. Your gonna like how easy they slide right on your stuffer tube. I remember the first time I used Natural hog casings I was wondering what the heck I got myself into  ;D
