I'd love to hear about the various "traditions"
We don't have any "set" things we do.
Tonight will be baby back ribs two ways, and we have a sauerbraten marinating for Tomorrow or Sunday.
Beans and weenies for New Years day here, no smoke.
At my place it'll be a good cigar washed down with the Crown Royal a friend gave me ;).
Was going to do a 18lb turkey but someone forgot to get it out of the freezer before they left for vacation, don't know who that was ;), but will have to settle for whatever the family brings LOL!!!
To night I start my Black Eye Peas with some ham saved from the Christmas ham. Will have some jalapeno corn bread and some greens. Got to start the New Year with black eye peas. It is an old Southern tradition to bring you good luck.
Will be smoking up some snack stix and got a BACON about ready to come off the cure and it will need to be smoked.
Today I will be smoking a fatty, 2 blocks of extra sharp cheddar cheese, and 2 blocks of colby jack cheese. Not sure what else is in store for the rest of the weekend....
Happy New Years Everyone!!!!
Ribs tonight
Not sure about tomorrow

I love it when they play with their food (at that age) !!!
And I mixed up a (half) batch of Tenpoint5's "Apple Pie ala mode"
with 153 proof PGA.
The evening should be.... interesting.
I can't make anything, been off work sick all week. :'(
We normally have roasted pork/knockworst/sauerkraut/taters.
Will just eat the pork I made last night. Not much else. Wife is laid up with a pinched nerve so she can't get around much so spent most of the week off helping her, waiting on her, drinking beer, watching football, and making sausage. Hmmm ---not that bad a week after all.
For New Year's dinner we always go to my in-laws for pork and sauerkraut. But once we get home I have about a 10lb brisket flat to throw on for dinner on the 2nd.
Happy New Year everyone!

Not smoked but cheese fondue. Trick is you soak your piece of bread on the end of the long fork in the local white lightning before you dip it in the cheese. Aids digestion, or so I'm told by the locals. Einen guten Rütsch wünschen wir alle.
I will be picking leftovers out of the fridge and nursing a huge hangover :o
Happy New Years to all!
Lumpy
Happy New Year to you too 3rensho and everyone else. Looks like stuffed clams and fish chowder here tonight. Pork tenderloin tomorrow.
I am smoking a 10 lb Brisket, making Molasses Beans, coleslaw, cabbage rolls, and of course....cocktail weiners in BBQ sauce! Plus loads of Canadian Beer.
Hopefully my brisket will be done.....smoker has had a tough go in the -20 C overnight weather. Temp has been holding at 200 F.
Happy New Years!

For new years eve we went to our son and daughter in laws for supper. Got to play witht he grand children. Watched the 1 year old grand son walking around the table sampling all the goodies and eating nothing. For the main course we had stuff salmon. Today for supper my wife did a strip loin steak, baked potatoe, mushrooms and some greek salad. All was cooked inside 'cause it was too cold outside to even consider the grill. Lunch was the last of the turkey soup I made and for a mid afternoon snack I had some sushi plus to hot pickled pepper I bought which were really that hot. The afternoon snack was washed down with some Crown Royal and the evening meal was washed down with some Lemon Hart Rum.
