Title: Ham N Beans
Post by: OU812 on January 01, 2011, 03:19:01 PM
We had ham for Christmas, smoked with Hickory, no rub, no glaze, just basted with its own juices.

After the meal I cleaned off the bone, got some lunch meat, a couple ham steaks and diced the remainder.

Dropped the bone in my small crock pot and covered with 8 cups water.

Threw in 3 celery stalks, 2 Tab whole pepper corns and 1 cup minced onion.

Set on low for 12 hr.

Soak 2 lb Navy Beans for 12 hr.

Drain the beans and add to my large crock pot.

Strained the stock into the large crock pot.

Dumped in one pound diced ham.

Cleaned the bones and they go back in the pot.

Add 8 more cups water, put the lid on and come back in 12 hr.

Now take 3 cups of that and blend.

Till you get a paste.

Mix well, add 1 Tab salt and now its time to eat.

One of my favorite kind of soups.

Or at a restaurant.  ;D

Had some for lunch again today, then packed the rest in butter tubs and chucked in the freezer.

Only put 4 tubs in the freezer, thats only 4 bowels of soup.  :'(

Need to do a bone in ham again.
