Title: using jerky seasoning for stix
Post by: mow_delon on January 07, 2011, 02:32:14 PM
Anyone ever use a jerky mix for making stix?  I was wanting to use the Cabelas pepper flavor jerky seasoning for stix.  Is there any reason why it wouldn't work?

No reason at all why it wont be good. Read the ingredients and see if there is any dextrose in it, if not you may need to add just a scant under 1/4 tsp of meat tenderizer IE MSG.   Just an option

I just made some sticks using an "Andouille pre mix sausage seasoning and they turned out great, I did use buttermilk instead of water.

Sounds good.  I was also thinking that buttermilk would be a good thing to use.  I will give this a try as soon as I get teh meat thawed out.
