Title: You Favorite Snack Stix casings / Ties Questions
Post by: jiggerjams on January 08, 2011, 09:08:37 AM
Hi All,

For snack stix, is collegen casings the most favored? What would be your top 2 or 3 casing choices for snack stix?

When tying snack sticks has anyone tried twist ties? Do they work?

Thanks,
Jigger

I use collegen casings and tie with butcher twine. Do not have a top three cause thats all I use.

Only used butcher twine.  Lot of the guys tie each individual stick in an length of the stix rope.  Personally I tie just the ends and then cut them into the length that I want.  No right way and no wrong way.....just the way you like them.  I only use collagen casings for stix

I do the same as Penns.
Have never used real casings for sticks.

I only use collagen for sticks and dont tie any thing, just pinch the end to get started and fill the whole casing then after its full cut to length with shears.

I just use the collagen, and tie each end of the casing shut the same as hog casing.
Then I just cut to length after they spend the overnight in the fridge.

My norm is 17 to 19mm collagen. I have used sheep casings which turn out a nice slim jim  ;D
