Title: Uses for pulled pork
Post by: Sorce on January 08, 2011, 05:25:32 PM
So I've got a bunch of pulled pork that I made (un-sauced) looking for other uses. We've used it as meat for various mexican dishes and the normal BBQ pulled pork. Just wondering if anyone has any other good recipes for using the pulled pork.

I used some in a cuban sandwich a few weeks ago.  I'll see if I can find it.

here's the link  http://forum.bradleysmoker.com/index.php?topic=19622.0

I have also made a pulled pork pizza with bbq sauce, red onions ,   pepper jack & mozz

I've made pulled pork enchiladas, tamales, stuffed in jalapenos.

Wifey uses it on Pizzas.

My fav is still on a toasted bun.

For recipes that include cooked meat as an ingredient, you can substitute pulled pork for most of those recipes. I have used it for tomato pasta sauce, use it in dips (some recipes you may need to use a food processor), omelets etc. I've even used it for chili.

I just used my leftovers yesterday to make a BBQ pork pizza and it was amazing.  Just bought some store bought thin crust, mozz & jack cheeses, thin sliced red onion, and diced jalepenos.  I used Sweet Baby James on one pizza and Tim Love's signature on the other and it was so easy.  I put the pork on cold and it heated up nicely as was very moist when it was ready.

I've done the pizza as a few other guys have described and also mixed it with some white queso that I get a Sam's Club.  Throw both into a crock pot and you have a fantastic dip that will not last long at all.

Thanks guys, I've done the pizza thing as well, forgot to mention it. One of my wife's favorites is to get small flour tortillas, mix the pork with some cheese, roll them up and pan fry them, the let them finish in the oven for some nice taquitos.

My next experiment with it may be to use it instead of chicken in tortilla soup. Still gotta try the ABT's.

Make some Brunswick Stew. I made this variation last week with leftover pulled pork butt.

Into a pot throw your pulled pork, chopped medium
onions, chopped fine
celery, chopped fine
carrots, chopped fine
crushed canned tomatoes
hot sauce or cayenne powder
worchestershire sauce
garlic, fresh or powder
cider vinegar
ketchup
store bought BBQ sauce to taste, 1/4 to 1/2 bottle
frozen corn kernels
pepper
salt
water or beer to just cover ingredients, bring to boil, then simmer at the lowest temp. possible, covered; for at least three hours. I've cooked it up to 10 hours. Stir occasionally. Adjust to taste after cooking two hours, it should be slightly tangy, with a slight bbq sauce/tomato flavor.

Grease a hot flat press with butter.
Slap on a slice of white bread.
Add pulled pork.
Add Starne's sauce.
Slap on another slice of white bread.
Smash till toasty.
Say the blessing and eat.

We decided to use it in tortilla soup last night, in my opinion it came out much tastier than using ground beef or shredded chicken in it. We used up the rest of what we had refrigerated. I've got some still in the freezer however.

And that, my friends, is exactly the way a BBQ pork sandwich is prepared and served at Starne's BBQ joint in Paducah KY.  It will be laid on the counter in front of you(if you were early enough to get one of the stools)wrapped in waxed paper.  That's it.

The wife made a really nice asian dish with pulled pork, and the whole thing took less than 3 minutes.   Just rice, pulled pork, garlic powder and hot sriracha chile sauce in a wok with a little veg oil.   Here's the link.

I have started saying the blessing again after I recieved some Starnes and IceMan's Sauce.

God has blessed those people! Awesome.
