Nope, you only need to refrigerate after opening, but if it makes you feel better then stickem in the fridge  ;D I usually only make 5 pounds at a time (which is about four strands) so i throw what I dont need in a food saver bag which is xtra long that way every time I cut it open I still have plenty to reseal the bag again. I only rinse the salt off and soak the casings for what I need, I dont soak the whole bag of casings at once. Hope that helps a little.

I keep mine in the fridge.  If you have any left overs after you stuff.  Take the length and rinse the inside and outside.  Put in a baggie and pours some salt over it. Then put it in the fridge and it will last a long time.  I use my ends from the previous stuffing first before I put on a new length.

As long as they are covered in salt in a vac bag or container with a lid, fridge is up to you.
