Title: Colorado Loves Texas BBQ
Post by: DTAggie on January 23, 2011, 07:48:22 PM
Some of you may recall that before Christmas I smoked a brisket and some butts to send to my brother in Colorado.  He was going through a divorce and needed a little spirit lifting.  Well I got a 12 lb brisket and two butts smoked for him.  By the time it was cold enough in Texas to mail it to him, I had done a few other smokes.  We also had tamales on Christmas Eve, a family tradition.

I sent him a package with a whole smoked brisket (sliced), about 2 lbs of chopped brisket from a subsequent smoke, the two butts pulled and tamales.  Divorce is final and he just got settled in his new place.  He sent me a text today saying he had some friends over for the games today and served the chopped brisket and pulled pork I did with Salt Lick rub.  The Colorado natives are already asking if I can send more.

In previous years I was sending he and his family BBQ from a Texas smokehouse for Christmas.  No longer will I do that.  The OBS my family gave me last Christmas now lets me send my own gifts.

A big thank you to all on this forum who have helped me learn to smoke some dang good Q!

Good to here the package made it to your bro and it was a hit.

Gave my brother one of my old smokers and the only time it gets used is when I come down.  ::)

Colorado - Texas - ain't much difference.  Wait there is those mountains, all that snow, and all them treehuggers.  Well - never mind!

Congrats there DT.  Half the fun of cooking is the response from the consumers!

Glad you mentioned tamales - gotta make some soon.
