I assume you were asking "Can you" vice "You can't" right click. I did try doing it that way to no avail. I initially logged into the site and (I think) followed the instructions. I even tried temporarily pausing my Kapersky Anti virus. I have the prior version on my other computer which is running XP.

Sorry, I worded that wrong..

That is odd.  I can't help with Windows 7, as I'm stuck in Vista-land here on my work computer.

Might be some kind of security setting, as it is downloading an executable file.

If all else fails, PM me and I'll pop a CD in the mail..

If it is not downloading at all, then I would suspect your firewall is blocking the dowload. You may need to temporarily disable the fire wall, or configure the firewall so there are no restrictions to that site.

Others with Windows 7 have successfully downloaded, installed and run the program. Though those with the 64 bit version, have trouble locating the file because '7 place all 32 bit programs in a separate folder.

It does download but I can not match up the file with the program. I am not a computer genius, but can normally find my way around. I am VERY new to Windows 7. I had XP before. I suspect you hit the nail on the head with the bit version situation. So far I can not do it.

There are a couple of threads that discuss this problem, but I am not able to find them by doing a search.

First I have to ask did you download and install Golden Section Reader? If not that has to be install on your new computer. Windows 7 will also place that in that special folder.

After getting both files installed you will need to do a search on your compute to find their locations.

The Golden Section Reader file is named: GSReader.exe; after finding note location

The recipe file is named: Recipes_v3.exe; note location

Once you locate both files run Golden Section Reader (also send an Icon to the desktop), and after that opens use that program to open the recipe file.

That should work. If not let us know.

Still no luck. I can find both files. I even put them both in the same folder at one point. I have deleted everything and downloaded from Old's numerous times now to no avail.

I still haven't been able to find those links that refer to the problem you are having, but this seems to be a new problem. When others were able to find the files, they could run Golden Section Reader. Windows 7 should run 32 programs with the exception of some antivirus programs and drivers.

You can try right clicking on Golden Section Reader and go to properties; select compatibility; then select run this program in compatibility mode; then select the appropriate choice from the drop-down menu.

I still have XP installed on my computer, so I am not that familiar with 7. Here are a couple of articles may be of some help. It seems that the 32 bit programs have to be installed in the following folder; C:\Program Files(x86)

http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/how-windows7-vista64-support-32bit-applications.htm

http://www.computing.net/answers/windows-7/installing-32bit-programs-in-win-7-64bit/1109.html

I'll keep looking for those links.

From the recipe site:

QuoteNOTE: Just a heads up to Vista 64 bit users, the gso reader installs itself in c:\program files [x86]\GSO Reader. When you install the recipe file it goes to c:\program files\GSO Reader. When you hit file open, you wont see the file until you point it in the correct direction.

Same goes for Windows 7 64bit.

I have the recipe download installed on my PC  running Windows 7 HP 64bit

The Reader installed fine but the recipe's get installed to (C:Program Files\Golden Section Reader)

It does not get installed to (C:Program Files (x86) \Golden Section Reader) were the reader gets installed.

If you click on the Start button /Computer/double click your C drive you should see 2 program files

Program Files = Recipes are in here

Program Files(x86) Reader is in here.

Open the reader and then point it to the recipe file and it should open it.

Give this a try and see if it helps

Brian.

I found the files just fine. Perhaps my problem is "pointing" it to the recipe file. When I use the "open", the location cannot be found. If I type in the address, it does not recognize. When I drag and drop it does not run.

I guess it should be noted that I have the home edition of Windows 7 and not the Pro.

I will give it a few more tries.

Finally got it. Do not know how, but it finally let me input the location.
