Hi Royboy106;

Welcome to the forum.

It should not take 9 hours for a 4.5 lb. chicken. Is there anything else in the smoker; a large load will keep the temperature down. What temperature are you cooking at? You should be cooking at 225°F or higher - the higher the better. What is the current internal temperature of the chicken, your target should be 165°F measured in the thigh.  If you are having trouble getting the cabinet temperature up, open the vent to 3/4 to fully open. At this point, I would move it into a 375°F preheated oven and finish cooking it there. That will also crisp up the skin.
