Title: Question on Venting my DBS Bradley
Post by: Rudyfo on February 14, 2011, 07:27:02 AM
I went out this weekend and purchased a small suncast cabinet for my DBS so I can take advantage of smoking year around here in Iowa. The smoker fits perfectly in the cabinet. I secured the cabinet to a wood table with lockable wheels on it...I think i will really like it! My question is venting. There is approximately 1-2 inches from the top of the DBS to the top of the cabinet. I have seen posts on here where people have cut a hole through the top of the cabinet and jerry-rigged various vents. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do with venting? I have seen stove vents, PVC vents, hoses and etc...I'm sort of at a standstill with what I should do. I obviously don't want water inside my machine and if possible would like to still be able to adjust the regular vent on the DBS. I'll take any feedback! Thanks!!

Now my cabinet is stationary and will not move. I am able to adjust the air shutter for the vent if I needed to(mine is always fully open). The vent pipe going into the cabinet is sealed with silicone around the pipe and has a very tight fit. It is also secured to my patio cover. There is no problem with the smoke making it's way up the entire pipe or water getting into it when it rains...

I use a small chimney connected to a small vent line (see top of cabinet -bottom is unattached cold smoke set up and not a vent)

I put mine in a Suncast, I just cut a 4" hole in top twisted the 4" stove pipe in. it doesn't have to come down on top of the smoker mine sets about 3 inches off but it still drafts quite well.
