Title: Hi Mountain Cure Packet
Post by: chooch on February 15, 2011, 03:32:07 PM
Anyone know if the "cure" in the Hi Mountain jerky kits is just regular cure or is there something else in there?

Lookin' to pick up a bulk Inferno seasoning and I'd rather not get more cure if it's just pink salt, I got enough of that already.

Thanks

I think it is more like Morton Tender Quick or Basic Dry Cure.  If you have pink salt you can make your own basic dry cure from this recipe:

JF7FSU is right, it is a cure mix.

I buy it in bulk and use it as a base and add my own flavors.

It contains: Salt, Sugar, Brown Sugar, Maple Syrup and Sodium Nitrite.
