Post by: OU812 on March 16, 2011, 03:14:55 PM
Had some chicken the other night injected with some Gun Powder and butter then rubbed with the same.

Fired up the smoker to 280 F and let the rubbed chicken sit out at room temp till the smoker got to temp.

Loaded up 3 hr Pecan and after the smoke the bird looked like this.

Wile the chicken was a smokin I fired up TBE and when the smoke was done dropped in the bird.

When the IT hit 160 the chicken looked like this.

Let rest about 20 min wile I made the rest of the goodies and when I laid the chicken down the legs almost fell off.

Got out the good eating gear and served up some chicken, stove top and steamed asparagus.

You can see were I injected the GP/butter, it almost looked blue.

My son and I were fightin over the skin wile the wifes were pecking away at there plates.

Now all thats left is some naked dark meat thats gonna be chicken noodle soup.

I'd say you are the first Gunpowder 'injector'!

How did it taste inside the bird?

GREAT!

Really brought the flavors of both the GP and the bird.

Those blue lines were why the girls were pecking at there plates.  :D

I finally broke down and told them what it was.  ::)

Nice!!! I was thinking about your GP injection and was wondering if anyone has ever used it in a brine? I just ordered mine and don't have any experience with it. Does it dissolve well in warm liquid?

Using it in a brine is my next mission and yes it does dissolve in liquid.

Had no troubles injecting it threw an standard needle with some warmed butter.
