Title: corn syrup solids?
Post by: grnhs on March 25, 2011, 12:50:50 PM
I'm gearing up for a sausage weekend and a couple of the recipes in the Kutas book call for corn syrup solids. Is this something that is at the local stores or is there a close substitute for it.
Thanks
I'll post pics.

CSS is normally at specialty stores for like baking and such. Never seen in local super markets. Online mostly

CSS is used as a binder, flavor enhancer and helps in fermentation.

You can use clear Karo syrup 1.50 fl oz per 5 lbs of meat

Thanks Rick. That is some info to know on the substitution.
