Post by: Brian.R on April 07, 2011, 08:47:18 AM
I live in S.E.Alberta in the middle of ^@$% cattle country, in a city of 70,000+ people and can't find a brisket in any stores or butcher shops to save my soul! ??? >:(.  Anybody else from Southern Alberta know where i can get one, Medicine Hat doesn't have any ???

Brian I feel your pain. I live right in the middle of Hog country in Iowa. It just burns my butt when I see Pork butts here for $1.98lb then I see butts for $.99 in Texas and Alabama. Whats up with that?

There has to be a butcher shop around there somewhere. Brooks maybe?

You might have to ask for one to be specifically cut for you.

If your passing through Calgary area, Balzac Meats will have them (Call ahead).

If near the Innisfail area, The Mad Butcher always has them. That's where I get mine.

None of the grocery stores cut the briskets in the style we need. You need
to find a Mom & Pop style butcher.

Briskets are pretty rare around here too, especially a packer.  And I live right in the middle of, er ... never mind.
