Title: Bacon, Bacon, Bacon - the Finale
Post by: GusRobin on April 17, 2011, 07:30:06 AM
So when we last left our hero, the bacon was in the fridge for some overnight rest before slicing. (If you need to rewind the story click here:http://forum.bradleysmoker.com/index.php?topic=21927.0 (http://forum.bradleysmoker.com/index.php?topic=21927.0))

So took out the maple bacon and sliced some for breakfast.

Fried that up and added an omelet made with sliced leftover flat iron steak, mushrooms, various sweet peppers, and onions. You may notice that there is less bacon in this picture. The smell of bacon cooking woke up the wife and I had to share :(

All exaggeration aside, this is literally the best bacon I have had for a long long time, if not the best ever. I had previously made bacon on the Bradley and thought it was very good. However, getting a good piece of pork belly was basically impossible around here. Mostly fat with little meat on it. Schmidty here on the forum ( and the friend that originally turned me on to the Bradley) found this local farm. Picked up this 12 lb belly for $3 lb. I'll have to talk to the guy about other cuts. They don't sell baby backs because they sell them as crown roasts, but they do sell spare ribs for $3 lb. A little high but the stores sell them for $2.90 something. But we'll have to try them.
So as we leave our hero eating his breakfast with a smile on his face, so ends the tale of "Bacon, Bacon, Bacon". We can all rest easy knowing that the Alabama Amigos now have a place to buy pork.

Typical wife comes out and steals the food right off your plate!! I Hate when that happens. Glad you boys have a place to get some bellies. You will be needing more.
