Coming up this Sunday is a new show on Food Network called "Best in Smoke". A food smoking competition show... Looks like it will be a good one. One guy has the front end of a old truck being used as a smoker :D Just thought I would let the forum members know so they can set the DVR ;D
One of the guys is "Famous Dave" owner of the restaurant chain.

Should be interesting to watch, to see the possible difference in smoking between the competitors.
and thanks for the information...I googled the show and from what I read the show will be on at different times of the day all week, but the first show is Sunday May the eighth at 10:00 PM..
thanks again
think my wife already set the DVR up for this one. hopefully it's a goody.
Unfortunately we do not get that channel. :-[ Have to talk to SWMBO to see if we can get it.
Just a bump as a reminder, sometimes when you are older you forget things.. :D
9PM CST tonight. 10PM Eastern.
DVR is set.

heads up for other Canucks on the board - doesn't look like this airs on the Food Network here until May 17th :-\
Located on the food network at 10:00 PM Pacific time (West coast))
Saw the show, not too impressed. Too many gimmicks for my taste. For example, its a cooking show so why have a track meet to get to pick your meat. All should cook the same meat. You can still have them add their own special touches. Anyway, thats my 2 cents.
thanks for the update now i know i wont need to stay up for it . thanks Gus you saved me some sleep
I agree with Gus...kinda...but the mistake with the chicken thighs was totally amateur....I mean...everybody who smokes chicken knows you have to crisp that skin up on the grill or something...I was under whelmed compared to the talent on this site...but...perhaps the show will get a little more sophisticated than this episode...
And the woman contestant added liquid smoke to her fish...WTF :D
Really disappointed, but watched the whole show to see if there would be a turn around, didn't happen..will I watch again, probably...to see if any corrections are made, like was already mentioned the foot race for the selection of meat was unfair, not equal ground for all...
The contestant in the brown T shirt, knit cap and a beard...what the heck was he burning in his smoker? On the first cook he opened the lid to the smoker and the nastiest looking yellow smoke came BOILING out of the smoker.
Was familiar with Famous Dave and Chris Lilly but who the heck were those other people?
I Que is one of the top teams in New England, and was the first North East Team to win the Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational Barbecue. They won it in 2009.

The Ocean Springs place was wiped out by Katrina and they rebuilt it even more junkier than the original.

Forgot about the folks from "The Shed". I did know who they were.
I was not impressed. I'll DVR it and watch it just for grins but it's nothing like what I read and see on this Forum!! It's like foo-foo cooking :-\
I always assume it will get better...it's a new show...I don't think there is ANYONE on this site (on a regular basis) that couldn't have made food better...but the idiotic "you're cooking for a museum (or whatever it was ) showing was silly...and the gal that put pineapple with beef? She deserved to get whacked... ???
I'll watch it again, I'm sure I will learn something every show :-\

I don't believe you will learn many techniques, this show like other reality shows is for entertainment. Kind of like "Survivor Barbecue". :) I am not very impressed with the judges. Each judge's style seems to be all over the spectrum.
