Thanks for the cartoons with a message....
Many Americans just look at Memorial day as another "3 Day Weekend". So when you are with your family having a good time at the lake or wherever you go take a moment to reflect on all the sacrifice made by heroes of this great nation to allow you the freedoms you enjoy. Make sure your family knows the true meaning of this "3 Day Weekend".
We all get caught up in the little problems of our daily lives and sometimes fail to see the big picture of how we all got here. My prayers this weekend go to Ghost9mm and is wife & all currently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. And my deepest appreciation goes to all the Americans who sacrificed their lives and gave all so we can enjoy all we have...
Thanks Drac for this reminder to the true meaning of Memorial Day
Thanks Drac.

You got to be caeful there NaPaSmoker, you'll push one of my buttons and you'll will all spend hours reading posts about how we should remember these men and women more than a couple times a years ;D
Seriously though I do feel pretty strongly about it and have been active in our companies Vets group for the last couple years and even serving as chapter prez for a year. Got the honor to adopt an Army unit in Iraq last year for our center. We got 300+ soldiers Christmas gifts and restock their MWR room. A pitiful token for what they give but...
You ever notice that the lowest paid people in our country are incharge of the most important things?
In order of pay -
Police & Fireman - your safety
Teachers - your kids future
Bank tellers - your money
Military - your freedom
Jim
Drac,
Thank You for reminding us what is truly important. A bigger "THANK YOU" to all that have made the ultimate sacrifice, and all that continue to serve.
Jeff

You want to know what a button feels like pushed so far in it wont go any further?
When one or two of your kids calls you and says my will is in the mail to you and I am being deployed in 3 days.

Oh, I know that feeling from the other side. I'm still in the Navy Reserves and I got a set of orders a couple years ago but found out I had high cholesterol so I had to go back and get it under control. I expect to head out with the Bees in the next couple years.
Jim
Thank you for helping us to remember what the upcoming holiday is about. I know I tend to lose focus on what it means when I get caught up in sale prices of pork butts and ribs and what I'm going to be cooking. Here are some pics I took when we were in France several years ago.

Just up the hill from Omaha Beach. The crosses are so perfectly aligned that it looked like they used a laser pointer.

if it was not for the loss of our fighting men and women we would not have our freedom and let us not forget what they have done for all of us... lets remember every one
A toast to ALL active duty and veterans - especially those who put their lives on the line and/or paid the ultimate price. Thank-you one and all.
Happy and safe Memorial Day to everyone and a big "Thank You" to everyone that has served!
God Bless America and may He bring back our youth safetly, I served for over 9 years. I can't even image what the familys that paid the ultimate sacrifice are going through.
