Title: Mr. & Mrs. KyNola's Great Adventure!
Post by: KyNola on June 06, 2011, 12:56:41 PM
On Thursday Jan and I will venture up into Hal and STC's land for 4 days.  I found a meat market out in the county that will cut anything I want.  So I mentioned to Pat that he would sell whole pork shoulders frozen to me at $1.39/lb.  So today I goes out there to buy 2 cases which normally hold 3 shoulders at an average case weight of 60 pounds.  "I need 2 cases please". "Larry, this week there are 4 shoulders to the case."  "I'll take 2 cases."  Total weight 155 lbs of pork shoulders. :o

In the trunk of a 2 seater Benz roadster! The white bag to the left is 10 lbs of pork ground for me to make sausage.  $1.89/lb.  I can't buy butts at $1.89/lb, let alone grind it!

In addition, I'm taking several tri tips, 5 lbs of boudin that my guy makes, a 18 lb Wagyu brisket, 2 packages of ginormous chicken wings that my guy sells and Lord knows what else!

Here are 2 quick shots of the meat coolers in the front of the store.

This is the kind of place where everyday you can buy a bologna sandwich for $1.00.  The butcher/owner's Daddy runs the cash register.  His name is "Punch".  He's has to be in his late 80's.  Punch's Daddy actually started the business.

Great haul Larry.

Bet the Roadster was squatting a bit with that kinda load. ;D

With the way things are going you better fill up the freezer wile you can still afford it.

That goes for everybody out there.

75 pounds of those are getting the Hickory treatment this weekend.  The rest is going in my buddies freezer for his MIL's 80th bday party in August.

Nice deal.

The part that stood out for me though is Larry is finally going to bite the bullet and actually make some sausage!!
