Title: Heating element toast, approx 6th smoke, very sad :(
Post by: Louie_Sausage on June 26, 2011, 04:24:05 AM
Well at least it was during the preheat, could have lost 5 pounds of 48hr marinated jerky.

Too bad I lost the receipt, and it's Sunday, hope a new element isn't too expensive.

Things I tried,

unplug and plug in all connections
plug the element directly to the wall
in the process of moving so no idea where my multimeter is.

bah.  even got up at 4am to get the smoke started before work.

Sorry to hear that....Just give Bradley a call. Even without the reciept you should be able to get a new element. Did you register your smoker? They should have that info ;D

Customer service is all well and good but what about the 5 lbs of marinated jerky?  What are you thinking about doing?

I feel your pain ... Had my elements die in the middle of smoking some steelhead a couple of days ago.  Fortunately I was able to use a pellet grill to finish the job  >:(

I was just going to throw it in to the freezer, I think it will be ok.

Found my multimeter, just in the process of testing the connections.

it's defiantly the element. I'll phone Bradley on Monday. We are in the middle of a postal strike here in Canada, this could take a while.

Thanks for the tips guys.

Mine went out on the 5th or 6th smoke too. I ordered one from Yard and Pool. I had it in 2 days. I also called Bradley and Lance took care of me. So the one Bradley sent I'll keep as a spare, just in case. Good luck Louie!!! Can't wait to hear how your jerky comes out.

Just doing my 6th smoke and guess what burner gone. Put my pork butt in at 10:30 it stalled at 167 after 5 hours or so went to check an hour later and the Maverkic probe was at 140 and going down when it had been at 220. At least it got the smoke now finishing in the oven. Was going to smoke a turkey tomorrow, but not now. Maybe on the grill and get some smoke on it that way.

3 Days later and the element is here, just in time for the Canada Day Long Weekend. I just hope the jerky is still ok.

Excellent customer service from Bradley. Very happy :)

Or use the smoke generator and smoke it in the Bradley for an hour or two and then in the oven (or grill)
