and is there a place where ya'll order your bradley stuff from? i wonder if someone has a starter package for newbies? sounds like alot of fun. 8)
Well of course you can - it's called a Bradley Digital Smoker and comes in both 4- and 6-rack models.
(Sorry - just couldn't resist - blame it on the Scotch)
Sparky,
No, they have to be ordered separately. You can order the OBS from Bryan at www.yardandpool.com He is a member of the forum and a good guy to deal with. For the PID, I ordered mine from www.auberins.com Order the plug and play model.
Sparky, if you are thinking about getting into sausage (which I think you are), then the OBS + PID would be the way to go. The digital doesn't have the exact temperature control that the PID will provide.
That's the combination I have as well.
I have the older Single probe programmable PID, picked it up used from another forum member. Here is the detail on them:

What Larry and Pat said...
which plug & play should I get? Sounds like just another medium of the smoking process. I am looking forward to learning about the bradley. My good friends deb, squirt & kynola all have said to get the original OBS & the PID thingy. I have known these ppl for over a year and know they wouldn't steer me wrong. Now, how do I tell the wife I need another smoker? Xmas and birthday coming, might have to wait until december. SELLING Mak 1 star so I can get my bradley. Don't need 2 mak 1 stars at this time. You ppl are very friendly, I like it here. Very laid back, just my style. 8)
I bought that OBS and a dual probe plug and play Auber PID there is no installing. Just plug your power cords in and your set. Really nice holding temps close and makes it a lot easier if you do sausage.
what accessories should I be getting when my wife says I can get one? And can I get everything from bryan? Never mind, I'll just ask him to set me up, much easier that way. 8) do I need the cold smoking adapter right now also?
I have the OBS with the dual probe programmable PID from Auber.
I use a cardboard box and dryer vent hose for a cold smoke rig, I only use it a couple of times a year.
The only other thing you would need would be some "bubba" pucks, these are aluminum pucks that you put last on the stack to push the last pucks into the water.
And frogmats, too... both are available @yardandpool.com
Gus's wish list that you should get (budget permitting) and some sources:
OBS- check around, Amazon sometimes has them as low as $244 with free shipping.

Whichever one you get, get the hanging temp probe not the wall mounted.
Cold Smoke Adapter - either the Bradley or build your own. If I had to do it over again I would build my own. Easy to do and many have posted their build and directions on the forum.
Thats my take -others will have their favorites
Maverick 732 remote temp monitor- Yard and Pool
do they only have the black OBS? love the jim beam one but it is digital.
You can have any color you want in the OBS as long as it is black. ::)
think they used to have a OBS in stainless but I think it is out of production
Hi Sparky....I would recommend that you get some frog mats for the Bradley. Also you will most likely find that you will want to try your hand at jerky so extra baskets and extra side package is good as with will allow you to turn a 4 rack into a 8 rack.
You can't go wrong with the OBS and the dual PID. I do lots of snack stixs and the PID is fantastic to ramp the temps up and to keep the cabinet temp steady.

No dont do it. Stay away from the sausage making. You dont want to end up like this (http://i868.photobucket.com/albums/ab242/nepas1/SausageManjpgscaled500.jpg)
Or worse yet.
